Biggest Interior Painting Blunders and How to Avoid Them

Painting is not as easy it seems on the face. Before you can take up painting on your own, you’ll need to learn the do’s and don’ts of painting.
Majority of the people residing in Auckland usually hire professional services for painting purpose. Painters in Auckland offer their services for painting residential complexes. You can also easily hire commercial painters in Auckland.
But if you are considering painting yourself, make sure that you avoid certain painting mistakes. Here is a list of the biggest interior painting blunders you can make and how to avoid them.

Painting in the Absence of Primer
To avoid adverse results and gain perfect finish always use primers before painting. Primers provide the paint with a good surface to adhere to, thereby bringing out the true color of your shade.

Impatience
If you have dedicated your time in fixing every imperfection and patching every crack, then you also need to make sure that the wall is completely dry when you start to sand and prime it.

Brushing Instead of Rolling
When you have to cover a larger interior area, rolling will do the better job for you. Pick out the right nap roller for your lustrous paint and avoid pushing the roller into the wall while painting.

Paint Buildup on Pad Edge
When you are using edge pads around the ceilings and corners, remember to wipe off excess paint in order to avoid marking the surface.
Underestimating the Requirement of Paint
Typically you require one gallon of paint for every 400 square feet of area. So you need to plan out your requirement accordingly, to save the frequency of your trips to the paint store.

Assuming Your Walls to be Clean
Paint gives a much better look when applied on a clean surface. Therefore make sure you clean your walls by washing before you start painting, to gain professional results.

Painting in High Humidity
When the air is humid and is laden with moisture, it takes longer time for the paint to dry off. In such case take the day off and wait for favorable weather conditions to resume painting.

Clear the Surface
Usually, paint does not stick to greasy and dirty walls. You need to take out time to prepare them or you are sure to face problems in the future.

Paintbrush Abuse
If you are using latex paints, you need to be particular about using your paintbrush. Start painting by dipping the bristles of the brushes into water. Then remove excess water by shaking the brush right before applying the paint. By doing this the brush will hold more paint and deliver better results.

Selecting the Paintbrush
You need to carefully select paintbrushes when you are applying latex based paints. Usually nylon or polyester blends give best results.

Covering Furniture in the Room
Though it becomes hard to entirely move your furniture out of the room, but you need to make sure that you cover your furniture completely in order to avoid getting it painted.
